Wildlife safety

Prospecting and fossicking in the NT can offer stunning and rugged landscapes and is home to exquisite (and some very dangerous) wildlife, waiting for you to discover. While exploring the Territory, you’ll more than likely encounter some of the NT’s wildlife. To ensure your safety, it’s best not to disturb these animals. Remember a body of water in the NT may contain large and potentially dangerous crocodiles - Be Crocwise.

Extreme weather

Beware of the different weather conditions at different times of the year in the NT. Extreme heat can be dangerous, evenly deadly. Dress to the conditions. Always tell someone where you’re going. It’s important to remember that no matter what time of year it is, to always keep hydrated, wear a hat and dress to the conditions. Don’t put yourself at risk, you must always be prepared, on alert and cautious.
